March 2006

Dear Our Lady of the Lake Alumnus,

I want to thank you for coming back to Our Lady of the Lake for our Alumni Day.  If you played in the basketball games I hope being on your grammar school court brought back fond memories.  If a spectator, I hope you cheered as loudly as you did as a youngster! Go Lake!

Our Lady of the Lake School has a proud history. We are in our 82nd year of educating wonderful young children.  Currently we have more than 170 families from 20 towns.

Here is a brief update of some of the exciting things going on at OLL. We recognize the importance of keeping up with technology in our global society and are fortunate to have two computer labs with internet access and a science lab. We also have part time Spanish, art, librarian, and music teachers. Our extra curricular activities include a popular forensics program, a chess club, student leadership, tutoring club, band, choir, and a thriving basketball program.

Our dedicated staff worked very hard in order for our school to achieve Middle States Accreditation.  This process allowed us the opportunity to closely examine areas of strengths and needs.  Evaluation is on-going and I  wish list to keep OLL moving forward as an exceptional Catholic school.

I have met many of you from different generations and you are a catalyst of my inspiration. I am grateful that you have been part of our foundation. We strive to continue the mission many of your ancestors established when they built Our Lady of the Lake Church and School. If you would like to help us to continue this mission we can always use more resources.  If you have a particular talent or area of expertise that you think might help the school please give me a call. I would love to hear from you.

For those of you who are in a position to help financially, note that many businesses make matching gift contributions to grammar schools.  Check with your human resources department to obtain the proper paperwork. Donations of any kind are always appreciated.

I look forward to seeing all of you again in the near future for an Alumni Reunion. As part of the township of Verona's centennial celebration in 2007, I would like to plan an alumni reunion. In the coming months check our school's website for details.

God Bless you and your families.
